MAJOR GENERAL I.G. BROWN COMMAND EXCELLENCE TROPHY

Purpose.  To acknowledge those Commanders who have performed in an exemplary manner during the last fiscal year (1 October - 30 September).  

Concept.  One commander from each Region may be recognized each year at the national Seminar for their support of the Air National Guard Noncommissioned Officer Academy Graduate Association and the enlisted force.

PROCEDURES

     a.  Submission package will include:

          1)  Association Guidance Handbook Form 6-8, Major General I.G. Brown Command Excellence Trophy Nomination Cover Sheet.

          2)  Endorsement Letters.   As a minimum, letters of endorsement from the state Adjutant General, Wing/Group Commander, and Chapter President.

          3)  Biography.  Block format.  Reference Association Guidance Handbook Attachment 8-3, Sample Biography for Major General I.G. Brown Command Excellence Trophy or Outstanding Graduate of the Year Nomination Package.

          4)  AF Form 1206, Nomination for Award.  Give concrete facts and specific examples.  Refer to Association Guidance Handbook Attachment 8-4, Sample Major General I.G. Brown Command Excellence Trophy AF Form 1206, Nomination Award for detailed instructions and guidance to complete the "Specific Accomplishment" block of AF Form 1206.

          5)  Draft Citation.   Reference Association Guidance Handbook Attachment 8-5, Sample Major General I.G. Brown Command Excellence Trophy Citation.

          6)  Photograph.  One 8" x 10" head/shoulder color portrait with United States flag (Service Dress uniform).

          7)  Floppy disk containing Association Guidance Handbook Form 6-8, chapter president letter, biography, AF Form 1206, draft citation, and digital photograph.  Include a scanned copy of other endorsement letters if available.

     b.  Nomination packages are to be submitted to the appropriate Regional Director.  They are to be postmarked no later than 15 February.  Packages are to be forwarded to the 2nd Vice President no later than 1 March.  Packages will be forwarded to the chairman of the Selection Committee no later than 31 March with the names and units of those submitted sent to the Air National Guard Command Chief Master Sergeant.

     c.  Selection.   The Selection Committee will be responsible for reviewing the packages submitted using the guidelines set forth in the Association Guidance Handbook.  The committee will use Association Guidance Handbook Form 6-12, Major General I.G. Brown Command Excellence Trophy - Rating Form.  A maximum of one commander, per Region, per year may be recognized.  The committee chairperson will notify the 2nd Vice President, Chapter 1 of the award recipients with a courtesy copy going to the President, Chapter 1.

     d.  Committee Members.  Members of the Selection Committee will be chosen annually from the available retirees.  Representation from each of the six Regions is desirable.

RECOGNITION   The Major General I.G. Brown Command Excellence award trophies will be awarded to each regional winner at the national Seminar of the Air National Guard Noncommissioned Officer Academy Graduate Association.
